Courtney Chetwynde is a character from D. J. MacHale's Pendragon series.

Courtney Chetwynde is a romantic interest for Bobby Pendragon, the Lead Traveler in the Pendragon series. In the first book in the series, The Merchant of Death, Courtney is fourteen years old, but by book seven, The Quillan Games, she is seventeen.

She and Bobby's friend Mark Dimond are Bobby's acolytes. They keep his journals secret from the other citizens of Second Earth. After a dangerous incident involving the Traveler's nemesis, Saint Dane, Mark and Courtney decide to stow Bobby's journals in a bank vault, in Stony Brook, Connecticut, where they live.

Owing to a complex series of events, involving Saint Dane disguised as a teenage boy becoming Courtney's romantic interest, Courtney is forced into a near fatal "accident" and is saved by Mark and his newfound friend Andy Mitchell. After several grueling months in the hospital, Courtney recovers, but finds herself in the middle of a storm of events, including the death of Mark's parents and the unmasking of Andy Mitchell as Saint Dane. In the seventh book, he tells Courtney there was always an Andy Mitchell, he just wasn't who everyone thought he was.

As a finale to The Quillan Games, Courtney joins Bobby in a quest to find Mark, who has, in his grief, travelled through the Flume (a wormhole through time and space) and is presumed to have joined forces with Saint Dane.

Eventually, in The Pilgrims of Rayne, Courtney finds Mark whilst on a passenger ship from New York to London, on which he destroys Forge. Mark then rejoins Courtney as an acolyte.

She helps Mark to try and stop Alexander Naymeer, a cult leader trying to rid Second Earth of underachievers in Raven Rise. She is captured by Naymeer and his cult, and thrown into the flume with Mark.

Courtney is described as being slim (although she "fills out" her pink bikini better than before, as described in The Never War) and very pretty, with long brown hair and gray eyes. She has had a major crush on Bobby Pendragon(and he had a crush on her) since fourth grade. They have kissed on several occasions. When they were younger they were athletic rivals. Along with being a good volleyball player, she also plays soccer and softball.

Events suggest that Courtney and Bobby are no longer romantically involved. In book 6, The Rivers of Zadaa, Bobby Pendragon admits that he has fallen in love with the Traveler from Zadaa, Loor (she gives him a friendy one second kiss in Raven Rise). Upon hearing this news, however, Courtney merely states, "This isn't over." A new character from Book 8, named Telleo, who is actually Nevva, attempts to get Bobby to fall in love with her, but fails to change Bobby's feelings for her. Nevva reveals herself due to a slip of the tongue involving the death of Remudi. In Soldiers of Halla Bobby falls in love with Courtney again, Though it was not shown whatever happened between Bobby and Loor.

In Raven Rise, Courtney and Mark attempt to stop Naymeer from taking over the world and Halla with Ravinia. They eventually fail and in the end are sucked into the flume and sent to an unknown place. It was later revealed in book 10 where she and Mark went.

She ends up in Eelong and becomes a leader of the exiled from Second Earth. She leads them to Black Water and joins the gars, giving them new technology and creating a home for five years before Bobby shows. She participates in both of the final battles and, in the epilogue, marries Bobby, becomes a reporter, was both a successful varsity volleyball and softball player, and lived a long life with Bobby.
